Creative Mentorship is a 1-on-1 coaching session with me, Ruby Maschler,

in which I guide, support and encourage you in your self-expression.

I help you develop your relationship to the world around you.

It's about you making the exciting journey towards becoming who you want to be.

These sessions are a dynamic hour dedicated to YOU.

We talk about your goals, dreams and specific obstacles in life.

Not only will we have powerful conversations, but we will also utilise the tools of drawing, writing,

and theatre training to uncover ideas, plan, and figure things out.

Creative Mentorship is suited particularly to those with a creative skill or passion,

whether it be making art, music, theatre, writing or anything else.

You do not have to be highly skilled, it simply matters to me that you enjoy something and we'll start from there.

Even if you feel you have creative potential that wants to be expressed, that's good enough.

I'll help you understand and conquer the obstacles in the way of what it is you feel you might be good at,

or used to be good at but stopped trying a long time ago.

As your mentor it's my job to help you improve your relationship to what it is that you create,

fine-tune your skills, and where I can, offer opportunities to get your creative work "out there" in the world!

In these sessions, you'll create your vision for your bright and powerful future,

and then I'll help you work your way towards it.

This invaluable process gives you a deep sense of purpose, connection to the bigger picture,

and a chance to talk honestly and openly about your life to someone.

Someone who is not your school friend, or your parent.

Someone who will listen without judgement, ask important questions, and provide a space for reflection.

Having been teaching and mentoring for well over 6 years,

I deeply understand the process of growth, self-reflection, and self-expression.

And I have spent time studying the link between all of these things.

Especially when it comes to ownership of your creative capabilities.

It's taken me a long time to come to where I am now.

From year 7, I was a very self-conscious schoolgirl,

who felt there was no room for me to paint, sing, write, or give entertaining speeches.

I saw people around me who were "better" than me and thought I was better off not trying.

How wrong I was.

Three years later,

I was starring in a show in the Theatre Royal, in front of hundreds.

Eight years later,

studying Acting in a high-level Actors Studio in Melbourne.

Nine years on,

directing a multi-layered theatre project in London with 17 dedicated actors and 4 other directors.

And eleven years later, at 22 years old,

I'm running my own theatre company and teaching classes in my hometown, Nelson, and loving every minute.

I went from being a shy, self-conscious schoolgirl to a successful theatre director in London.

But I would be lying if I said I found the magic all on my own.

I had Creative Mentors. People who saw me, listened to me and believed in me.

And it made all the difference.

Each time I needed some guidance and encouragement, there were people I could reach out to.

They were there when I was freaking out backstage before my first improv show.

They were there when I chaired a meeting of 20 different actors who were all interested in my idea for a theatre show in London.

They were there for me as I travelled solo to Edinburgh to participate in the world's biggest Arts Festival, Edinburgh Fringe.

And they were certainly there for me (and still are) as I founded and now run my Wild Rabbit, my theatre company.

I have always held the belief that each person has a huge capacity for creative expression.

Sometimes, all a person needs is a little nudge this way or that,

and the creative ideas, energy, and projects come pouring out.

And once they get started, it's very hard to stop them.

Sometimes, however, even though we get creative inspiration, there are things holding us back.

"I'm not good enough"

"People won't like it"

"My [insert creation here] is crap"

"I can't do it"

"It's not worth trying"

It goes on. We are hindered by unuseful thoughts and feelings.

And without anyone guiding us, encouraging us, supporting us, we sometimes believe these thoughts.

Then there's trouble.

Because we get stuck in a negative thinking pattern.

In this case, our creative ideas remain just ideas. They don't become actions.

They stay there, as hidden potential, or they go off to find someone else who will act on them.

For that reason, one of the core things we work on together is mindset.

How to make yourself bulletproof.

How to break those negative thinking patterns to get to where you want to be, easier, faster and with confidence.

I have a whole lot of tools, skills, tricks and insights I've learned over the years -

as well as a bunch of shortcuts to things which took me ages to figure out!

The path from childhood to adulthood is not always easy or straightforward,

it's full of massive growth and personal development.

Having a mentor at this time can make a huge difference to your life.

In addition to creative magic,

we'll also work on values, morals and good life practices,

to help you live a healthy, well-rounded life,

and help you get to where you want to be - faster.

Self-esteem, relationships, confidence - all of this comes under the umbrella of Creative Mentorship.

We'll talk about all of these things and more,

and I can offer you support, guidance, and techniques specifically related to these areas.

So, if you're feeling the call to kick-start the process,

shoot me a message and we'll get started with a chat.
